A Non-Profit Non-Sectarian Program Open to all Children of the Community

Program
Playfactory is open 6:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday year round for those children who need to be away from home because their parents work, or attend school. Parents may feel their children need to engage in social interaction with other children in a learning environment. Potty training is available.
Full Day Preschool
Children 2 thru 6 may be enrolled for 2, 3,4, or 5 days a week. Breakfast in the morning, a hot nutritious lunch, plus an afternoon snack is served following the California Food Program guidelines. Children rest in the early afternoon for 2 hours.
Kindergarten
Kindergarten program is an integral part of the schedule and is open to children 5 and 6 years of age. This open-structured classroom emphasizes language development, reading readiness, math, science, music, and art activities.
Learning by Doing
Playfactory offers an age-appropriate program in which children have many choices of activities during the day, with freedom of movement indoors and out. Children are encouraged to explore, experiment and create with materials such as paint, clay, water, sand, and mud. Music and stories build listening skills. Our large outdoor play area, with it's tree house climbing structure, provides physical challenge and stimulates imaginative play. Classroom cooking and field trips enhance the variety of the stimulating daily program.
Playfactory/Church Relations: History
Playfactory is a day care center for preschool and kindergarten children. Started by the Temple City Christian Church in 1973 as an answer to a need of families in the community, especially single parent families. A non-profit non-sectarian program open to all children of the community. The Playfactory provides tuition assistance for families in financial need; parents are provided opportunities for growth in raising their children; and most important, a warm, loving atmosphere is provided in which each child can play and grow. Parents should contact the School Director for further information and application for tuition assistance.
Philosophy
Playfactory Preschool was established an educational facility to meet the needs of young children in our community. We believe children need a warm, comfortable, non-competitive place to learn about themselves, other people, and the world around them. We believe each child can develop to they're fullest, physical, emotionally, socially, and intellectually, in an atmosphere of love and trust.
Staff
Our teachers are trained in Early Childhood Education. They relate well with children and are skilled in providing the loving but firm guidance necessary for their development. To enhance the program our lead teachers are mentor teachers who train students who are becoming teachers. 9 teachers are on staff with 2 having 20+ years at the Playfactory. We are licensed by the State of California. The State's requirement is 12 students to 1 teacher, our program is 6 students to 1 teacher.
Accreditation
Since 1993 our school has been accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs. Early childhood programs accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs have voluntarily undergone a comprehensive process on internal self-study, invited external professional review to verify compliance with the Academy's Criteria for High Quality Early Childhood Programs, and been found to be in substantial compliance with the Criteria. A high quality early childhood program provides a safe and nurturing environment while promoting the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of young children.
Tuition Information
Playfactory is a non-profit preschool. All tuition fees are applied to the cost of staff, equipment, supplies and other operation expenses. Fees are based on cost per child per week. They represent 98% of the actual cost, and the balance is made up each year re registration and materials fees, food program grants, and interest income. A limited amount of tuition assistance is available through some programs administered by the Board of Directors. Scholarship grants are given based on the family's total financial need.
