Lucy Orton was nominated by the Temple City Chamber of Commerce as the Employee of the Year
On May 1, 2005, Lucy Orton celebrated her 51st anniversary of dedicated service to the medical practices of Dr. Groat and Dr. Lewis May in Temple City, California. Lucy came to California in 1948 after serving in the Women's Auxiliary Core as Sergeant from 1942-1945. Thereafter, she continued her medical lab and x-ray technician training at San Gabriel Valley Lab Technician's School and worked at St. Luke's Hospital. Her duties at the medical practice included blood counts, SED rates, x-rays and she also assisted in minor surgeries which in earlier years were conducted in the office. Lucy continues her commitment to Dr. May's practice and to Temple City. Her leisure hours are spent visiting and being a caregiver to seniors at Country Villa. She believes that the elderly teach us appreciation and patience. Lucy enjoys reading, knitting and walking but most importantly, she enjoys being useful in the lives of others.
